Is US on Brink of War with Iran?

Of course the US wants to transform the Middle East. Of course it wants to change the Middle East into an area where there are free markets and where it can get easy access to all that oil.

The irony of this is that this probably could have been done with patience, diplomacy and the US's secret weapon ( a weapon so secret even the CIA doesn't seem to be aware of it): tourism.

But George Bush and Co. fubared it.

ABC's Shipman Slams Linda Tripp on Lewinsky Anniversary

Half a decade after observing the fifth anniversary of the Monica Lewinsky scandal, "Good Morning America" correspondent Claire Shipman filed a report on Monday's show that commemorated ten years since the event. Shipman used the January 21 piece to take a swipe at Lewinsky-gate figure Linda Tripp, snidely labeling her "that questionable, tape-recording friend" and pointing out that she "has remade her face and her life." After observing that Tripp has since opened a store selling Christmas trinkets in Virginia, Shipman mused, "Atonement? Simply irony? Who knows?"

During the fifth anniversary segment, on January 16, 2003, this same GMA reporter appeared dismissive of the Lewinsky scandal. She claimed, perhaps hopefully, "It may be, especially in this newly-sobered world, that the Lewinsky episode, as riveting as it seemed at the time, will have little lasting impact, will be little more than a memorable footnote in our political life." A similar tone pervaded Shipman's report on Monday when she described the event as the "national political episode that a decade later, and in a post-September 11th, Iraq-dominated world, seems surreal."

Macklin leads No. 6 Georgetown to 74-42 victory over St. John's

John's previous worst conference loss was also to the Hoyas, 72-42 on Jan. 6, 1982, also at Madison Square Garden.

"It was one of those days that happen to all of us," said Georgetown coach John Thompson III, whose father was coaching the Hoyas 26 years ago. "I think our guys were extremely attentive in terms of helping each other and understanding what we were trying to accomplish."

Roy Hibbert added 11 points and Sapp had 10 for the Hoyas, who shot 52.8 percent (28-for-53) led by Macklin's 8-for-10. Macklin's previous career high was 10 in a loss at Pittsburgh on Jan. 14.

"He put points on the board and that became big when we found out this morning DaJuan wouldn't play," Thompson said, referring to starting forward DaJuan Summers who was kept out of the game after tweaking his left ankle in Saturday's win over West Virginia.

Teen shark attack victim releases new documentary

Bethany Hamilton, the young teenage girl who made headlines for swiftly resuming her amateur surfing career after losing an arm in a 2003 shark attack in the waters off Hawaii, shares her story to hundreds of teens.

The Christian teen was just 13 years old when the 14-foot tiger shark attacked her just over three years ago on the North Shore of Kauai. The shark also took a 16-inch bite out of her surfboard.

Bethany new documentary, "Heart of a Soul Surfer," which is being released by Walking on Water, a Christian surf company based in San Diego, chronicles how Bethany refused to walk away from the ocean sport, despite the amputation of her left arm. Instead, the incident compelled Bethany to reach inside herself to discover her purpose in life. Emboldened by her faith, Bethany was back on her board just three weeks later.

Making MySpace Safer

Vermont is one of 49 states to reach an agreement with the social networking giant, MySpace, that will make it safer for teens to surf the site. The settlement comes after an investigation showed sexual predators were using MySpace to target victims, but most kids in the Green Mountain State don't worry about what they put online, who is going to see it, or who might try to contact them.

"I keep my MySpace page private, and like, the profile picture isn't a really good shot of me, so people couldn't really tell who I am anyway. Yeah, I don't really let any random person see personal stuff about me online," said Eliza Rainville.

But officials say that teens have reason for concern.

"We have been notified that there have been offenders posting profiles, have been notified that solicitations have occurred through MySpace," said Detective Sergeant Kris Carlson, the director of the Chittenden Unit for Special Investigation.

Witness describes finding bodies of drowned children -

A frail-looking McDowell walked into the courtroom Tuesday wearing a black sweater and blue jeans. Before the case was called, she sat between her mother and stepfather.

She remains out of jail on bail and has been undergoing counseling, said her attorney, Jack Hinson.

During the hearing, Hinson argued that the felony aggravated child neglect charges did not fit his client's case.

"I believe the state of Tennessee has overcharged this lady," he said after Beal's ruling.

Earlier, while questioning investigating officer Capt. Chris James of the Henderson County Sheriff's Department, Hinson said, "You've got no proof that she intentionally put these children in the pool."

Hinson argued that by law the charge of aggravated child neglect charge applies for "any person who knowingly, other than by accidental means, treats a child under 18 years of age in such a manner as to inflict injury." The charge applies when "a deadly weapon, dangerous instrumentality or controlled substance is used to accomplish the act of abuse, neglect or endangerment," he said.

Media have a Tom jones

Just behind me in the mob scene, some guy is quivering like a bloodhound on the scent. I mean, literally quivering.

I'm directly in front of Tom Brady's little carnival sideshow at the 50-yard line, and I turn to look at the guy.

Jesus, pal, slow down. The guy has a microphone and the twisted, hyperventilating smile of someone who has come face to face with his savior.

Clearly, the NFL has a sense of humor and offers press passes to lots of, uh, different types.

One's mind drifts back to media days through the years, to MTV bimbos and ''krazy!'' radio reporters and doddering old men hired as reporters and hipsters doing shaky-cam stuff and all the weirdnesses of the media world.

But Brady has stirred this pot to a high boil.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Did Jay-Z and B get Married? Mr. Biggs! T.I.! Oprah ...

You trust Oprah with everything else, but NOT when she makes a bold move and supports the person she feels is best qualified as the president? HOGWASH. That's the real “you" coming out and its what Dr. Cornel West once spoke about POLITICAL COURAGE. Its going to be a different ballgame for Oprah and I COMMEND HER.

MR. BIGG IS IN JAIL!

I personally put up an appeal for Ronald “Mr. Bigg" Isley NOT to got to jail. I now see that those efforts were way in vain. He's in JAIL! He went in quietly with little fanfare. Now his wife is talking to Sister II Sister magazine to give the latest on Ron. You know, he has the longest running career in music EVER…even more than James Brown before he died.
