Many people questioned whether Senator McCain could win a closed GOP contest, as up to now he had won in New Hampshire and South Carolina through the assistance of crossover voting from Democrats and independents. Those questions have now been answered, at least in Florida.

What does this mean for the Super Tuesday contests coming up in a week? It appears that the race has narrowed down to McCain and Romney. McCain will enter February 5th with more delegates, but only 10% of what he needs to win the nomination. He will have a great deal of momentum and credibility, and Romney will have relinquished some. Almost certainly, McCain becomes the favorite to win the nomination.

However, Romney has a better national organization and more resources to run in 21 states simultaneously.

Release Date for Gran Turismo 5 Prologue for PS3

Gran Turismo 5 for PS3 finally has an official North American release date: April 17. This year.

GT5 Prologue released for PlayStation 3 in December 2007 in Japan, but until now, the North American release date had not been known. Thanks to Sony for changing all that.

Gran Turismo 5 Prologue will release in two different forms for PS3 owners. The first way is traditional: buy the game on Blu-ray Disc, just like you would any other PS3 game at retail. The other way, however, puts that massive PS3 hard drive to the test: download the game via the PlayStation Store.

Sony didn't reveal how large the GT5 Prologue file will be, but it's safe to say that unless you've got fiber optic cable running into your house, you're going to be better off buying the retail version.

AFL legend Wayne Carey to break silence after Miami bash charge

DISGRACED AFL champion Wayne Carey has sought solace from his family as the fallout from his police bashing charges escalates.

The besieged footy legend is distressed and plans to break his silence in a public statement.

"Naturally everyone's upset about it," Carey's brother Dick told Herald Sun Online.

"At this stage there is no comment but there will be a statement probably as early as Monday."

Carey could be shunned from the AFL Hall of Fame as it emerged Miami police were forced to put him in restraints reserved for America's most violent criminals.

"Clearly Mr Carey has anger management issues and he seemed to be upset with the entire world that particular morning," Miami Police Lieutenant Bill Schwartz said.

"I think the main injury was to the reputation of one of Australia's finest athletes."

An out-of-control Carey was hobbled in a leather strap tied around his hands and legs to stop him harming himself and damaging a police car, US detectives said.

Asian Beach Games to cost Rp 300 billion

The first Asian Beach Games, which will be held on Bali from Oct. 18-26, will cost an estimated Rp 300 billion (around US$32 million), says National Sports Council (KONI) chairwoman Rita Subowo.

Rita said here Wednesday that the organizing committee and KONI would strive to secure the funding from the government and sponsors.

"The Coordinating Ministry for the People's Welfare will provide Rp 100 billion," Rita said.

"A New Zealand apparel company has signed an agreement with the organizing company to provide a sponsorship of $1.5 million."

Rita said she was hopeful KONI and the organizing committee would find other sponsors to cover the budget.

"We are still negotiating with local and other international companies to sponsor the tournament. Some of them probably will support us in cash, while some others will provide equipment, like computers," she said, adding that the organizing committee would use Ernst & Young as its financial adviser.

S.C. Obama supporters expect candidate to find favor in state

Sen. Barack Obama's dramatic win in Thursday's Iowa Democratic caucus will help him win South Carolina later this month by convincing Democrats of his electability and attracting swing voters to the primary, local observers say.

"I would hope that his victory last night really gives all types of voters more confidence in considering him and selecting him," said David Agnew, a Charleston businessman and co-chair of Obama's South Carolina campaign. "I don't think that's limited to one category of voters."

Meanwhile, local backers of Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., and former Sen. John Edwards caution not to count their candidates out.
