Drew and Justin Can't Keep Their Hands Off Each Other

Justin is a special guest star in the movie about stand up comedians on the road. So yes, Vince was there along with some of his buddies like Jason Bateman and John Favreau but much of the focus was on Drew and Justin and their matching grins. Don't get me wrong, Drew is one of my favorites so it's great to see her happy, but I'm still not sure she has found the one, or shall I say the fourth?

Wind and waves, a poet laureate, and tough policing

As we enter the new year, some issues remain doggedly at the island's heels just as they were a year ago: the Champlin's affair, state budget constraints and high energy costs. But we also had some unexpected and welcomed turns: a potential solution to those energy problems, a state poet laureate selected from our ranks, and a busy summer held in check by competent police work. Some of the most exciting announcements — with the potential to change life on the island — occurred in the last few weeks of 2007.Wind and waves to the rescueAfter Governor Donald Carcieri announced his goal to provide a minimum of 15 percent of the state's electricity from renewable sources, wind energy ended being high on that list. The state commissioned a study, and Rhode Island Commissioner of Energy Resources Andrew Dzykewicz announced in a series of on-island presentations that two of the prime locations for a wind farm are off the shores of Block Island. If approved, said Dzykewicz, there could be as many as 100 wind turbines, standing 450 feet high with blades extended, complete with foghorns and lights, anywhere from a mile to three miles south of the island.

Campaign 2008: Fred Thompson

Allies of Rudy Giuliani believe he would drop out of the presidential race before Super Tuesday if he polls poorly in Florida tomorrow, rather than face a humiliating defeat in his home state. Speculation aside, the instant focus is on the New York ballot.

China says Kenya violence proof Western democracy unsuitable

Living standards are higher in China even for subsistence farmers than they have ever been in the past 3,000 years. It's very difficult to argue with success.
China and Tibet have been exchanging control of their territories for about 1,600 years. The Tibetans have controlled huge regions of China for centuries at least three times in the past. The situation in the present is merely a continuation of the same old, same old. To imagine that either side is good or bad, right or wrong in the tennis match is missing the point, in a shallow and superficial way.
After all, everything the commentary in the People's Daily says about the Western colonialism in Africa is true and correct. The deceitful hypocrisy of Western commentators criticizing the Chinese for 'maintaining friendly relations with authoritarian leaders' is more laughable than contemptible.

Cold turkey is no way to quit e-addiction

It's been two weeks since my last major dose. I've been pretty much cold turkey ever since.

Sure, I've mooched off of my roommates when they weren't around. It's the advantage of having several other users living with me. Without them, I might be writhing half-naked in a cold sweat somewhere.

I've even managed to sneak a couple hits during class, until my professors call me out for "double-tasking." Not the worst chiding one could expect for ignoring the lesson in search of mere minutes of euphoria.

Despite the challenges, I'm really surprised how well I've held up since that fateful day at the beginning of the semester when my livelihood and my love was ripped violently from my hands.

It's at that time that a blunt realization came to me.
